  • What is Islam?

The religion of Islam is the acceptance of and obedience to the teachings of God which He revealed to His last Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

  • Who is Allah?

The Arabic word Allah means God (the one and only true God who created the whole universe). This word Allah is a name for God, which is used by Arabic speakers, both Arab Muslims and Arab Christians. This word cannot be used to designate anything other than the one true God.

  • What is the Holy Quran?

The Quran, the last revealed word of God, is the primary source of every Muslim’s faith and practice. The Quran is the literal word of God, which He revealed in Arabic only to His Prophet Muhammad (peace upon him) through the Angel Gabriel.

  • What is the Quran About?

It deals with all the subjects which concern human beings: wisdom, doctrine, worship, transactions, law, etc, but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures. At the same time , it provides guidelines and detailed teachings for a just society, proper human conduct, and an equitable economic system.

  • Facts About the Quran?

    • Not one letter of the Quran has been changed over the centuries.

    • The Quran mentioned facts only recently  discovered or proven by scientists.

Example: In the Holy Quran, God speaks about the stages of man’s embryonic development – “We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance)”…. …………………(Quran, 23:12-14)

How could Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) have possible known all this 1400 years ago, when scientists have only recently discovered this using advanced equipment and powerful microscopes which did not exist at that time.

  • Who is Muhammad?

    • Muhammad (peace be upon him) the son of Abdullah, is the Prophet of Islam.

    • He was born in Mecca in the year 570CE.

    • He was known by his people as al-amin (the trustworthy one).

    • He was unlettered, meaning that he could neither read nor write.

    • At the age of 40, the angle Gabriel came to him with revelations that established his prophethood. The revelations continued for twenty-three years and they are collectively known as Quran.

    • He was first ordered to instruct his immediate family on Islam, including his beloved wife Khadija, but eventually it was revealed to him that he should begin delivering the message to all mankind.

    • As soon as he began to recite the Quran and to preach the truth which God had revealed to him, he and his small group of followers suffered persecution from unbelievers. The persecution grew so fierce that in the 622 God gave them the command to emigrate. This emigration from Makkah to the city of Madinah, some 260 miles to the north, marks the beginning of the Muslim calendar.

    • In the next 20 years of his life, he communicated the message of Allah to his people, and set an example for how each human being should lead her or his life.

    • Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) died in the year 632 CE, at the age of 63.

    • Within a century of his death, Islam had spread to Spain in the West and as far East as China.

    • The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was a perfect example of an honest, just, merciful, compassionate, truthful, and brave human being. Though he was a man, he was far removed from all evil characteristics and strove solely for the sake of God and His reward in the Hereafter. Moreover, in all his actions and dealings, he was ever mindful and fearful of God.

  • Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the last prophet sent by God to humanity, Jesus (peace be upon him) preceded him.

  • Biblical Prophecies on the Advent of Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam

The Biblical prophecies on the advent of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are evidence of the truth of Islam for people who believe in the Bible.

In Deuteronomy 18, Moses stated that God told him: ” I will raise up for them a prophet like you form among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. If anyone does not listen to my words that prophet speaks in my name I myself will call him account” (Deuteronomy 18:18 -19).

  • Is there any sacred source for Muslims other than Quran?

Yes, the Sunnah (what the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, did, or approved of is the second source in Islam.

  • Muslims and Jesus?

    • Muslims respect and revere Jesus (peace be upon him). They consider him one of the greatest of God’s messenger to mankind.

    • The Quran confirms his miraculous virgin birth, and a chapter of the Quran is entitled ‘Maryam’ (Mary). The Quran describes the birth of Jesus (peace be upon him) as follows: (Remember)  when the angels said, ” O Mary, God gives you good news of a word from Him (God), whose name is the Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, revered in this world and Hereafter, and one of those who brought near (to God). He will speak to the people from his cradle and as man, and he is righteous. ” She said, ” My Lord, how can I have a child when no mortal has touched me?” He said, “So (it will be). God creates what He wills. If he decrees a thing, He says to it only, ‘Be!’ and it is” (Quran, 3:45-47).

    • Jesus (peace be upon him) was born miraculously by the command of God which had brought Adam into being without a father. God has said: The case of Jesus with God is like the case of Adam. He created him form dust, and then He said to him, “Be!” and he came into being (Quran, 3:59).

    • During his prophetic mission, Jesus (peace be upon him) performed many miracles. God tells us that Jesus (peace be upon him) said: ” I have come to you with a sign from your Lord. I make for you the shape of a bird out of clay, I breathe into it, an d t becomes a bird by God’s permission. I heal the blind form birth and the leper. And I bring the dead to life by God’s permission. And I tell you what you eat and store in your houses….” (Quran 3:49).

    • Neither Muhammad (peace be upon him) nor Jesus (peace be upon him) came to change the basic doctrine of the belief in one God, brought by earlier prophets, but rather to confirm and renew it.

    • Muslims believe that Jesus will come back and will retrieve God’s religion on earth and will make the believers victorious.
